Paint prep is I sanded the BT and fin can after using micro-filler on both pieces. I also lightly sanded the NC so the primer would stick. Then I applied a light coat of primer and sanded that with 200 grit sandpaper. I then applied another coat of primer and sanded it again. I then applied primer only where I thought it needed it to kind of build up some very small valleys. I let it dry for an hour as directed. Then I applied the first coat of fire engine red and let it dry. I applied two more light coats. I then hand painted the logo on the side. I wanted it to be a scratch built with no stickers. I'm not the best hand painter, but it came out ok. I also lightly sprayed the fin tips with white and the entire body with a gold flake for a far distance to give a metal flake look. I then applied two coats of clear and let that dry. The last thing I did was wax the entire outside of the rocket. This helps keep the rocket clean, protects the rocket and helps with friction for altitude. I highly recommend this last step with all your rockets. Just remember to make sure you let the paint dry for a few days first.
